Supporting Our Cause
Children who have books at home and who read during the summer do better in school. One hundred percent (100%) of the funds collected by the Delray Beach Education Fund in connection with the Delray Reads event will be used to purchase books in support of the Campaign for Grade Level Reading.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to provide summer reading materials to every kindergarten through second grade student at Delray's Title I schools. For many of the children attending these high-poverty schools, the books they receive from the city's Campaign for Grade Level Reading are the first books they can call their own.
We are able to purchase five age-appropriate books for each child for $25 through a special arrangement with the Scholastic publishing company.
Please remit a check payable to the Delray Chamber Education Fund with "Delray Reads" listed on the memo line. You may send your check to:
